Based in Thaba Tshwane a military area in Pretoria , Thaba Tshwane football club currently campaigning in stream A of the 2021/2022 SAFA North West ABC Motsepe league has announced the club ‘s new captain and team manager .
On the 1st of September 2021 the club appointed Nkululeko Sankeke as the club’s Captain for the 2021/2022 season with Thite Mabilo as the Vice Captain. A month later the club then announced Sesupo Pitso as the new Team Manager.
In an interview with Tshwane Bulletin club Chief Executive Officer Olebogeng Boikanyo opened up about the appointment of new captains.
“Following a consultation between the technical staff and management we decided that going into the new season we needed change of captaincy due to the unavailability of our captain and vice captain for the foreseeable future, ”
He further revealed why the club saw both Nkululeko and Thite as best candidates for the roles, “Nkululeko and Thite have been at the club for a number of years and have shown good leadership skills.
“They are respected amongst the players, so we felt that they were the right people to lead the team going forward and act as link between players and management. ”
Boikanyo lauds the team for welcoming new leadership and says the mood in camp has been positive , “ The boys have welcomed the new leadership with open hands and support them very much.”
Boikanyo believes the experience of new captain Nkululeko comes in as a bonus for the club , “ Nkuli understands the culture of the club and will be instrumental in inducting and leading the new players .
“ He has been with the club for more than 7 years and know the ins and outs of the club. ”
He further said , “ As a senior player and the captain we rely on him in guiding the youngsters and new players in the team as to how things are done at the club. ”
Following his retirement early in the season , Sesupo Pitso was handed the team ‘ s manager role . Boikanyo had this to say regarding Pitso’s appointment ,
“ Sesupo has been with the club from our regional league days and he has always had the club’s best interests at heart ” .
He then revealed how injuries forced Pitso into retirement , “ He had a niggling knee injury which was being attended by our medical department during pre season .
“ The knee injury coupled by personal reasons he decided to call it a day ”.
