Smash The Net for a Difference is a sanitary pads drive campaign created by Soshanguve United FC for girls in need of sanitary pads in the community.
In partnership with Sipho Mahlangu , Soshanguve United FC accepted the challenge to donate a number of sanitary pads equivalent to the numbers of goals scored throughout the current season.
In an interview with Tshwane Bulletin Newspaper, the club’s junior division coach Bafana Maseko revealed that giving back to the community inspired him to come up with the sanitary pads campaign.
“I decided to come up with an idea to give back to our community since our football club turned 34 this year; The Smash a Net for a Difference came to mind.”
Maseko further revealed that it made perfect sense partnering with the Bhayela Ngwana Bathu foundation that has been donating school shoes and stationary to the less fortunate throughout the year.
The club will donate sanitary pads to the Bhayela Ngwana Bathu foundation which will donate to their school of choice or organisation.
Maseko revealed that it’s an honour as Soshanguve United FC to be a part of this great initiative.
“It means a lot, this is an opportunity to serve and make a positive impact in the community ”.
He further added, “No girl should miss school due to menstruation periods”.
Maseko urge on people to lay hand in the campaign and donate sanitary pads as it would make difference to one girls’ life.
