From the dusty streets of Soshanguve Ext2 to now first-choice goalkeeper of Sekhukhune United FC MDC team, Gontse Motsitsi has been a man on form putting on a match-winning performance in the DStv Diski challenge against Mamelodi Sundowns which earned him the man of the match award.

Known for his excellent ball distribution and sharp reflexes, the 21-year-old keeper is the epitome of a modern-day keeper. In the game against Sundowns Motsitsi put on a master-class performance that earned his team a point. Reflecting on his time at the club Motsitsi revealed that the difference between professional football and Kasi football is substantial.

“Life in professional football is different from amateur football. If you snooze you lose and each day demands you to work hard to impress the coaches”. He further revealed that a lot of effort and work had to be done for him to become the player he is today.

Commenting on his man-of-the-match performance against Sundowns, Sekhukhune’s number one believes that the game was an opportunity for him to show his qualities against a top team that’s strong in attack.

” It was my first man of the match award, I was a bit nervous to receive it but I was not surprised after the successful performance on the day and I will keep improving myself”. Motsitsi was pleased to share the field with hometown boy Ofentse Mashiane captain of the Mamelodi Sundowns MDC team in what was the battle of Soshanguve.

The pair shared a special moment after the game leaving many locals touched to see two of Sosha’s finest. “I have always been a fan of La Liga. We always push each other to achieve more and I remember before the game he texted me saying he was gonna score against me and I jokingly said “no chance”. With his form, a PSL call-up is in sight for Gontse Motsitsi.
