The Oppie Bal Road race took place this past weekend at the Union Buildings where hundreds of Tshwane residents came in support of the event. Hosted annually by the Oppie Bal foundation, the event is aimed at supporting people with disabilities.
The City of Tshwane community and social service development partnered with the Oppie Ball Foundation to raise awareness. Standing against discrimination towards people with disabilities was the order of the day.

MMC for Social development and community services Cllr Peggy De Bruin stressed the importance of the event in empowering people living with disability. This was done through the creation of opportunities in access to facilities and equipment, skills development, and participation development. Participants we took part in a 10 KM, 5KM, and 2.5KM fun race. The Oppie Bal road race was an eye-opener for residents to be tolerant and offer assistance to people with disabilities.
