In what was a most prestigious, glamorous and honorable awards evening, last night the Tshwane Sports Confederation hosted the Tshwane Women in Sports Awards at Future Africa at the University of Pretoria.
In the aftermath of the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympic Games the second addition of the Tshwane Sports Confederation Women in Sports Awards as sanctioned by the Gauteng Sports Confederation and City of Tshwane was held in celebration of the remarkable achievements and unmatched potential of women and girls in sport within the boundaries of our beloved Tshwane for the period 01 August 2020 to 31 August 2021 all of whom have made remarkable contributions to both the development, and encouragements of women and girls participation in sport.
Women in Tshwane play a leading and critical role within sports federations, NGO’s and NPO’s on all levels, from grassroots to elite professional level. They steer many training and development programs and facilitate the participation of women to remove barriers that may prevent women from vocations in training, administration, coaching, and sport and recreation management. And for these reasons, the theme of the Tshwane Women in Sport 2021, “I Rise” was most fitting.
We, the Tshwane Sports Confederation through this Awards, therefore, SALUTE our women and girls for their endless, selfless and dedicated will to change the mindset of our community and South Africans at large, ensuring Social Inclusion and Social Integration, stability, progress, and long-term development of our nation, through sport, said Winston Meyer, President of the Tshwane Sports Confederation. We are grateful for their commitment, he continues.

The winner of this award is Tatjana Schoenmaker.
An evening as prestigious as The Tshwane Women in Sports Awards would not have been made possible without the help, the backing, and the support of various individuals and partner companies and institutions. Those who share a common vision, those who have a passion for sport and are committed to uplifting and honoring women in Sport, the sporting community in Tshwane, Gauteng, and South Africa at large. We thank all our partners and sponsors in particular Spar and HPC for making the evening possible
