Tshwane Women in Sport Awards will take place at Future Africa on the 25th of March 2023 at the University of Pretoria. It is an annual event where Tshwane Sports Confederation celebrates the talent, contributions, and dedication of women in sport. The federation has been working closely with stakeholders and sponsors to prepare for the event.
Second vice president of the Tshwane Sports Federation and TWISA project lead Riana Bezuidenhout disclosed that preparations for an event of this magnitude is always a very meticulous exercise that needs massive team build-up.
“There is the element of collaboration with stakeholders and sponsors as well as ensuring that the stars of the day are informed. With this, we can say that as Tshwane Sports Confederation we are lucky and extremely grateful for everyone who has embraced this”.
Bezuidenhout further revealed that the build-up to the Tshwane Women in Sport awards is a year-long task credited to the LOC that comprises dedicated representatives from the City of Tshwane, GDSACR, TSC, Spar, and TUKS HPC.
The success of last year’s award ceremony paid dividends at the recent Gauteng Sports awards with Tshwane Women sports athletes walking away with big accolades. With success at the Gauteng sports awards, the federation’s vice president outlines the importance of recognizing our own at the local level. ” It is therefore imperative for us to ensure that as Tshwane we recognise greatness at a local level.
When we talk about recognition, we mention that everyone is noticed, from the grassroots to your most senior elite. We are all-inclusive”. Spar, Tuks Sport, Future Africa, City of Tshwane, Gauteng Department of Sports Arts Culture & Recreation and Gauteng Sports Confederation are doing a fantastic job to ensure that Tshwane Women in Sports Awards shine year in and year out. Reflecting on the past year Bezuidenhout is pleased with the progress of Tshwane Women in Sports in terms of representation at the highest level.
“Just looking at the results and medals achieved at the Commonwealth Games is a true indication that we are a force to be reckoned with. If we look at our representation in the netball world cup squad, our players have come through the ranks and worked hard”, Said Bezuidenhout.
Our national teams are well represented with Tshwane athletes creating opportunities for the future Tshwane generations and this indicates that we are not only progressing but excelling”. Nominees in each category will then pass through a strict adjudication process that will recognise a maximum of three finalists in each category”, added Bezuidenhout.
The three finalists will be invited to the award ceremony on the 25th of March 2023. For nomination submission, please use the following link https://forms.gle/KbE3qa8RUqvWyC5v8.
