Eersterus Netball Club, which competes in the Tshwane Netball League, is preparing for the 2024/25 season. The club is nearing the end of its pre-season program, which began earlier last month at Eersterus Netball Courts. Celebrating 20 years in the making, the team hopes to begin the new season on a higher note than the previous one.
Despite the hurdles of preparing for the new season, the club has made solid progress in recent weeks. Arnold Claassen , the club’s chairperson, indicated that it has been difficult to prepare for the new season because of the hazardous and dilapidated training facility.
“Preparation is fairly ok under challenging circumstances. Our biggest challenge is with regard to our facility. The sports facility has been severely vandalised over time, and it lacks any fencing or ablution blocks. This poses a serious threat to the health, safety, and security of the players during their training sessions.
“The coach, Monique Wilson, trains the senior teams from Monday to Thursday, and the junior teams on Saturday mornings. On Saturday Roxanne Matthyse, coach of the Gauteng Jaguars, will conduct a skills training camp at our facility”.
Claassen emphasized the club’s goal of winning the hearts of community members through exceptional performance. As part of the club’s plan to avoid the mistakes made last season, she announced that the club will conduct more skill training camps with highly qualified coaches and match friendlies.
In this year’s pre-season preparations, the club has focused more on team building among the players. Claassen believes that the team-building program is pivotal in their pursuit of a successful season.
Netball is a team sport. As a result, you cannot progress or succeed as a player on your own. Team building is essential for improving communication on and off the court. Conflict will inevitably arise in any group of people. The majority of our gamers come from the survival mode, but where there is hope, we try to make a difference.
Team building gives a forum for discussing problems and resolving issues. Motivating one another is essential when dealing with the obstacles of everyday life. We want our players to support one another when they are low in morale and motivation.
The upcoming season will be led by former senior player Coach Monique Wilson. The club has expressed confidence in Wilson and anticipates positive results.
The players are working hard to prepare for the new season and are dedicated to their training schedule. The club trusts Coach Monique to properly prepare and condition them for the new season. The team building event that took place last week was important for the players to get to know each other better as individuals, the club stated.
