Zwashu Football Academy locked horns against Shining Stars who are in second position on the log at Thaba Tshwane Sports Ground, and Zwashu Football Academy was able to come out victorious with the score of 5-3 even though the opponent had most of the ball position.
The substitute of Cuan “Yellow” Davids and Osedza “Biri” Musetha made a huge difference by giving the winning team more stability and they became more offensive in the last 10 minutes when they were to hit a comeback from the trailing 1-3 to finish the game with a score line of 5-3 after the super subs scored 3 goals, with 2 coming from Yellow and 1 from Biri.
Gudani Magau, the chairman of Zwashu Football Academy, mentioned that this season the team is conceding as many goals as they are scoring, so they should rectify those mistakes before they go to play in the playoffs, because if not, that will cost them.
“The game was tense as it was expected to be since it was number one competing with number two, and before the game, we were 6 points clear, so now we have extended the gap by another 3 points, meaning we are 9 points clear with 6 games left to play, so from now on we just have to keep our heads down and take each game as it comes,” Magau added.
Coming to this game, Zwashu Football Academy had not yet tasted a win against Shining Stars. The chairman believes that by God’s grace and the ancestors, they came to this game with the belief that they were going to win it, and through hard work and dedication, they managed to come out alive.
Zwashu Football Academy Captain, Malofha “Ten Ten” Molefe said that they played very well even though it was a tough game because the opponent came here smelling of blood, but we did not lose hope and showed them why we are at the top of the league, and we know what we want.
“Today is the first time we are coming victorious against this team and that brings nothing but joy to my heart. We have opened that needed gap between us and the team in second position, but I believe that going to the next game the coaches will no longer underestimate the opponent team, because today with unusual starting line up and that nearly costed us and we also need to train hard to maintain game tempo,” Molefe added.
The visitors left the pitch in tears because they could not believe the magic that they witnessed in the last 10 minutes and that they had played with that one chance that could have helped them reduce the gap between them and Zwashu.
