Tshwane University of Technology Athletes to Compete in Gauteng Karate Tournament.
The Gauteng province is set to host a karate tournament on Saturday and 12 of the fighters are from Tshwane University of Technology.
The aim of this tournament is to see whether the participants have gained some skills and knowledge from their respective teams since this event is set to host teams from in and around the Gauteng Province.
Seinsei Humbulani Mphuma, who is the chairperson of the organisation, mentioned that this tournament is to promote belts.
They have the team captain by the name of Lebogang Lesufi, who will be fighting for his Brown Belt meanwhile others are going to attempt for Yellow Belt and Blue Belt.
“On this day we are going to host all the teams from around Gauteng since this grade is more focused on the Gauteng teams and we are going to test those teams to see if they have reached certain standards while they are with their teams,” Mphuma added.
This competition comes in the form of an assessment of the students with the expectation of seeing the level of development of the teams around Gauteng.
Shihan Isaac Mashinini, the president of the organisation is expected to pitch on the day since that will give the fighters some kind of motivation. Some Branches from Limpopo, KwaZulu-Natal and North West will also be part of the competition.
From the previous tournament, the team had Gift Nyake who won his 2nd Black Belt, David Sepai who won his 1st Black Belt and 2 other fighters who won Brown Belts, not to forget the Juniors who won 6 Orange Belts.
