Motsamai Motsoane, a club legend, has announced his departure from Mamelodi Cricket Club after a successful stint as player and coach. Motsoane joined the club in 2021 as an off-spinner before transitioning to a full-time coach.
With his contract ending, Motsoane quashed rumours of disagreements with the club, stating it was a mutual decision to part ways. “My contract has expired, so I’m moving to a new environment. Age is catching up with me, hence I’m retiring from club cricket,” he explained.
Mamelodi Cricket Club expressed their appreciation on social media, thanking Motsoane for his contributions over the past four years. Players and supporters flooded in with messages of gratitude.
Reflecting on his time at the club, Motsoane said, “The moment I arrived, I felt welcome. The players received me warmly, and we shared many memories. This will always be my home.”
Pleased with the state he leaves the club in, Motsoane predicts a bright future for Mamelodi Cricket Club. In his farewell message, he expressed gratitude for the love and respect received during his tenure.
Motsoane’s next destination is yet to be revealed, with negotiations underway.
